Blink Outdoor 4 finally available in the UK
The Blink Outdoor 4, first launched in the US at the end of 2023, is finally crossing the pond and will go on sale in the UK from today.
The Blink Outdoor 4, like its predecessor, offers you two years’ worth of life from a pair of AA batteries.
That lifespan of the new £69.99 smart security camera comes with the caveat of only very light motion detection but, even in busy spots in your house, a yearly change of AAs isn’t going to break the bank.
The Outdoor 4 is a Full HD, 1080p camera and the visuals are better than the previous-gen model thanks to enhanced low light sensitivity and a wider 143-degree field-of-view.
It boasts on-device computer vision to power a Person Detection feature, whereby the processing is done on the device itself by by Blink’s custom-designed 3rd generation silicon.
However, this comes at a cost; you’ll need a Blink Premium plan to tap into this new skill.
There’s a basic plan that allows cloud storage and video history for one camera at £2.50 per month or £24 per year.
Stepping up, there’s the Plus plan, which covers all your Blink devices on a single account and offers extended features like the ability to temporarily pause motion-activated alerts for up to 24 hours for £8 a month £80 per year.
Like previous Blink Cams though, you can also opt to use the Amazon-owned brand’s Sync Modules, to store clips locally, including the new sync module for cloud storage, the Blink Sync Module Core.
All the Blink cameras integrate nicely with Alexa (obviously, given Blink is part of Amazon), and you can view the feed on Alexa-enabled screens and use the camera’s motion sensors as triggers in Alexa Routines.
On sale now in the UK, the Blink Cam Outdoor 4 costs $£69.99 for a single camera with the Sync Module Core. It’s £89.99 if you want to bundle in a Battery extension pack. There are also discounts on multi-system camera bundles.
